For almost 200 years there had been a doctor resident in Bow. I was the twenty-ninth.

This is our story

THE MEDICAL GENTLEMEN OF BOW

Dunsford Window

Dunsford Church: Arden Windows

This is another window erected by William Henry Kelland, and once again his name (see above) is prominent. It is to the memory of Rev George Arden (1819-1890) the son of a Dorchester surgeon. He was vicar of Dunsford between 1866 and 1888. Arden also ran a small boarding school in his vicarage and Kelland was one of his pupils.

Rev Arden's eldest son died aged 31 in 1879 and this church also contains a window to his memory (see below).

Edward Henry Arden was the son of Rev George Arden. He was born in Dorset in 1848. He was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy, serving in West Africa and the Caribbean on HMS Druid and HMS Boxer. He died of Yellow Fever in Jamaica in August 1879.

The window, right, which has a nautical theme, was erected by his family in 1880.
